Westerville North 82, Westerville Central 52 - Game Recap
Warriors' speed and depth dominate the Warhawks from the second quarter on
WESTERVILLE, OH - A Battle of Westerville brought in a nearly sold out gym at Westerville Central on Saturday and for the first eight minutes, fans were treated to a competitive back-and-forth game.
But after Tai Perkins converted a difficult drive right as the first quarter ended to break a 17-17 tie, the Warriors then outscored the Warhawks by 23 points in the second period. That significant margin would hold for the entire second half as reserves from both teams were brought in the final minutes until the horn sounded as Westerville North secured a comfortable 82-52 victory.
“Nothing really changed for us [after the first quarter], we kept on being who we are and if we kept playing how we play and be the best version of ourselves, things will start to roll our way,” Westerville North head coach Shan Trusley said after the game. “Our pressure, our trapping… it creates pace and tempo and to get the game going fast is what we want. But we didn’t do anything strategically going into the second quarter.”
