Wednesday offered us a handful of important matchups, most notably in the Licking County League. Here’s the top results from the action tonight.

Groveport Madison sophomore Jordan Wagner had a very impressive showing on Wednesday, as he looks like one of the elite players in his class.

#10 (D1) Groveport Madison 72, #6 (D2) Teays Valley 51

Groveport Madison is a new look team in a way that nobody could have seen coming. The Cruisers were benefitted in the front court when senior forward Marcus Hemphill, who was a big part of Bishop Hartley’s back-to-back district championships, enrolled at the school this week. Hemphill started on Wednesday and helped the Cruisers (4-1) roll to a 21-point win over a tough Teays Valley (3-2) team. Groveport is deep, lengthy and talented at every level. They play hard and can make a major statement when they travel to No. 2 (D1) Reynoldsburg on Friday night in a massive OCC-Buckeye showdown.

#4 (D4) Licking Valley 50. #5 (D4) Johnstown 33

Licking Valley (5-0) has been rolling through the first five games and put together its most impressive win of the season on Wednesday, holding home court and defeating Johnstown (2-1) by 17 points. The Panthers are off to their best start in recent memory and have a legitimate case for a top two ranking in Division IV next week. A matchup against Granville on Saturday is a big one as Licking Valley looks to compete for a Licking County League championship this season.
