GAHANNA, Ohio - - Behind 21 points and six assists from Duquesne commit and senior point guard Dom Aekins, the Walnut Ridge Scots (15-8) went into the gym of Gahanna Lincoln (13-10) and ended their season. They picked this game as a way to get to the Northland Vikings in the game that the city wants to see. The Scots took advantage of the open shots the Lions gave them and advanced to the next round by a score of 59-40.
Walnut Ridge started out efficiently and rode that wave of momentum throughout the entire the game. Aekins started by scoring eight of his teams 15 total points. The quarter was highlighted by four made three-point field goals from the Scots including two from Aekins himself. The defense of head coach Chuck Jefferson’s bunch also seemed locked in, allowing 11 points in total, and those were hard earned points from the home team.
