Unsigned Senior Showcase Top Performers
Breaking down the 10 best unsigned seniors from this past week’s showcase
GROVE CITY, Ohio - - Last Thursday night, 270 Hoops capped off their season with an unsigned senior showcase at Central Crossing High School, an event where players from the 2024 class had another chance to put their skills on display in front of multiple college coaches, at least one left with an offer as well. This event was an excellent presentation of the talent of the senior class in Central Ohio and a few of the surrounding areas have produced.
Local schools such as Ohio Dominican, Capital University and more scholarship programs had staff in attendance to look at and see what young players could fit their program.
Over the course of nine games during the evening, the players got to compete and show that they belonged playing at the next level. There were over 45 young men from the class that were present last Thursday evening, narrowing down the top performers was a tough task, but here are the best 10 players from the 270 Hoops Unsigned Senior Showcase.
Dylan Joy ( 6’0 Point Guard / Olentangy Orange): A starter on the regional runner-up basketball team, showed his grit and toughness all event long. He made key shots, got big stops and got on the glass during his time on the court. Offensively, Joy finished at the rim with difficulty multiple times after leaking out on the break and he showed range by knocking in multiple three’s during his games. The experienced senior showed himself to be a willing passer in both halfcourt situations and in transition as well, not letting the ball stick in his hands. He was all over the floor defensively as well, diving on the floor to save loose basketballs and keep the ball in play. Joy was a young man who enjoyed a lengthy conversation with a college coach that ended very well, he could make an impact at the next level.
Damien Harris ( 5’9 Point Guard / Whitehall): Harris was a bright spot for the Rams basketball team all season, consistently being able to navigate defenses and get his shot off when he needed to. The quick point guard took smart shots and showed good touch on jumpers from the midrange. He used good leverage and angles on the perimeter to attack the basket off the dribble. Harris is an excellent pick-and-roll point guard, being able to both pass the ball and get his own shot out of the action. He was patient on the offensive end of the court, probing the defense and never forcing anything when the ball was in his hands. This point guard has the chance to have a long and productive career at the right university because of the steadiness he provides and consistency he brings to a team.
