Prospect Profile: Jorden Bowens
The rising junior is ready to take charge. He talks about leading Reynoldsburg and the added momentum with his recruitment
COLUMBUS, OH - It’s not often to see a sophomore emerge as one of the best players for any team, let alone a team that won the share of an OCC championship and reached the district finals.
But Jorden Bowens isn’t your average player and his on-court production from last season showed just how impactful the 6’6 forward can be.
On a roster that’s loaded with future scholarship players, Bowens led the Raiders in rebounding (6.0) and was second in scoring (14.0) off 62% shooting from the field. The ability to score, rebound and defend earned Bowens first team All-OCC and honorable mention All-Ohio awards.
He’s now garnered the attention of Division I college coaches, already holding offers from Kent State, Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Toledo with continued conversations from mid and high major programs.
Bowens took time to chat with 270 Hoops after an eight-hour drive to Atlanta as he preps to play in the Elite 32 tournament with All Ohio Red. He speaks about his recruitment, his role with the Raiders and what it will take to get Reynoldsburg a district title and beyond.
270 Hoops: As we head into the final stretch of summer, how would you evaluate your AAU and high school team camp experience these last few months?
Jorden Bowens: For myself, I think I’ve had a great and strong summer, especially after June 15 which was the first time coaches could contact [2026 recruits]. After that, my recruitment took off a little more and I have started to get more interest from high-majors and some mid-majors.
You made a splash your freshman season, but really jumped out sophomore year. What led you to being more assertive and confident that led to your improvement?
I think it’s just like, I’ve been playing basketball my whole life. Every time you change levels, there’s adjustments. You go from middle school to high school, it’s an adjustment. I haven’t gone to college yet, but I know there’s an adjustment there too. So, the main reason or the main focus was to just adjust and get comfortable. I can score, it’s not hard to score, it’s the other parts of the game you have to adjust.
There’s a lot of depth and talent on your Reynoldsburg team. Typically, teams that live up to their talent have players that execute their roles well. What would you say is your role on the team?
