COLUMBUS, Ohio - - The goal is getting back to the state final four, and this was another step in the journey for the Pickerington Central Lady Tigers. The favorites to win the district did not let that label go to their heads and took care of business on the court in a dominant and impressive 61-27 win over Teays Valley for their ninth district championship for the girls basketball program. 

The Pickerington Central Tigers found themselves in foul trouble in the opening quarter, exceeding the five-foul limit and getting into the penalty halfway through the first, but the talent and basketball IQ got them through it. They closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 19-10 lead into the second. 

Action stalled for both teams to start the second quarter, with neither team seeing the bottom of the net until about 5:30 was on the clock when Teays Valley senior Alyssa Horsley broke the seal on scoring. That basket was immediately answered by the McDonald’s All-American Berry Wallace, who scored 12 of her 21 in the first half.
