OCC CHAMPS - Reynoldsburg defeats Pickerington Central
Raiders stay in control the entire game towards a 70-57 win. Friday's recap with a bonus Prospect Scouting Report
REYNOLDSBURG, OH - Upon arrival to Reynoldsburg’s Summit campus, a quick turn into the parking lot indicated an eager and large crowd that wanted to not risk the chance of being left out a potential crown-achievement moment, or spoiler, between two rivals. A couple fans outside had asked if there were tickets to spare and the doors upon entry were covered in SOLD OUT yellow signs.
Preseason expectations were high for a young Reynoldsburg team that welcomed new additions, but there seemed to be a Tiger or Cat persistently on the back. On Friday night, the Raiders put an exclamation point on a thorough, start-to-finish win as their 70-57 victory over the Tigers earned them a co-championship with Newark for the OCC-Buckeye. It’s the first conference title for the Raiders since 2013.
A Jordan Fisher offensive rebound that resulted in a bucket and the foul broke a mid-first quarter tie and gave the Raiders a 10-7 lead. Junior guard Damon Griffin would have his own 7-0 run towards the end of the period and pushed the Raiders towards a ten-point advantage after one.
