Hilliard Bradley 52 - Grove City 47
Jags escape a tough Greyhound team to win another district title
COLUMBUS, Ohio - - Wet spots on the floor from the rain outside translated to the three’s that were rained inside, as both teams lit it up from behind the arch, especially in the first half. In the end, it was the Hilliard Bradley Jaguars (22-2) who claimed the district championship, beating Grove City (15-9) by a score of 52-47.
“They had a good plan,” Jags head coach Brett Norris started. “We couldn’t find any real rhythm, the game got bogged down, but you got to find a way and we have consistently had good responses.”
A 12-12 tie ended the opening quarter after a fadeaway corner three from Kypton Norris swished through the net as the buzzer sounded.
Both teams combined for 12 made three’s in the first half, with Bradley accounting for seven of them, giving way to a 28-23 advantage when they went into the locker room.
“The paint was occupied, so that’s kind of what the called for,” Norris said of the amount of three’s taken by his team in the game.
The Greyhounds fought out of their third quarter deficit behind the efforts of Jairdan Tolliver who finished the game with 12 points and shooting from Zach Mills, tying the game at 30. After falling behind by two, sophomore wing Jayden Reed-Davis poured in eight straight for his team to take a 38-32 lead as time ticked away in the third, forcing a Grove City timeout.
