Harvest Prep 61 , Ottawa-Glandorf 59
Warriors Propelled to State Finals Behind Adonus Abrams 26 Points
DAYTON, Ohio - - Both teams have been here before, in fact, both teams were here last season (albeit against different opponents), and this time Harvest Prep (24-4) came out on top, defeating Ottawa-Glandorf (22-4) by two points, 61-59 and return to the state finals for the first time since 2019.
This one came down to the final buzzer, with Ottawa-Glandorf having a final chance to tie or go into overtime. The play was one that the Warriors have seen before, as both teams played two seasons ago and then-sophomore Colin White hit a jumper to take a lead over Harvest Prep. This time, sophomore Ephraim Campbell was there to not allow an easy shot and contest White as his potential game-winning three fell short to give Harvest Prep its third trip to the state finals in the last 10 years.
“What a game,” Harvest Prep head coach David Dennis Sr. started the press conference with. “These young men stepped up, made the right play at the right time, got the right stop at the right time and they found a way to win.”
“When we played them two years ago, they ran that same exact play and we looked at the play about five times,” Dennis Sr. started. “We were able to dissect that play and play a little tough on it.”
“We actually beat Harvest Prep on that same play a couple years ago,” Titan head coach confirmed later. “It ended with a lot of happy Titans.”
Ottawa held an 8-5 lead after senior and Ohio’s Mr. Basketball Colin White nailed a lay-up along with the free throw, but Harvest Prep senior Adonus Abrams went on an absolute tear and scored seven straight for his team and boosted them to a 14-10 lead as the first quarter clock continued to tick away.
“They were giving me open looks,” Abrams said about his 26-point game. “I took the openings that they gave me and shots were dropping.”
