Games to watch on the last night of the regular season
After tonight, every game is win or go home. However, there are some good matchups on deck on Friday
It’s the regular season finale in Central Ohio basketball. We’ve reached the last night of the regular season, as these last two weeks have felt like an eternity when waiting for the start of the district tournament. By next Saturday, we will be on to the district semifinals which puts things into perspective at how quickly the tournament moves. Let’s take a look at the games to watch on Friday in Central Ohio.
Bishop Hartley (18-3, 4-1) at DeSales (12-8, 3-2)
The only real game of consequence tonight is taking place off Karl Road on the north side. Bishop Hartley is looking to win its first outright CCL title since 2018 on the road against a very good DeSales team. The Hawks won the first matchup on Jan. 26, 55-48. DeSales needs a win to force a tie at the top and clinch a share of their first CCL title since 2019. It will be interesting to see if DeSales has any fatigue after taking on the top seed in Division I on Tuesday in Olentangy Orange. Hartley is a top seed of their own in Division II and could make a major statement in Andreas James’ second year leading the program. Hartley could’ve won an outright league title the last two weeks, but were held to a season-low 33 points in a road loss at Bishop Watterson on Feb. 9. This team has been dominant at home the last two seasons in the CCL, but has gone just 1-5 in road games in the conference. Something will have to give tonight in order for the Hawks to win an outright league title. DeSales won the second matchup against Watterson last week and is looking to make it two-for-two tonight.
