It’s another Friday in Central Ohio. Here’s the top games to watch in the area.
#2 (D3) Bishop Watterson (11-3) at #1 (D3) Bishop Hartley (12-3)
For the second time this season, Bishop Hartley and Bishop Watterson match up as the top teams in Division III. Hartley comes in fresh off a tough last week where they lost two of three games and survived in overtime at DeSales (that win looks a whole lot better with the Stallions knocking off Reynoldsburg on Tuesday). The Hawks carry a 3-0 record in the Central Catholic League, with Watterson a game behind at 2-1. It’s a make-or-break game for the Eagles, as a Hartley win will make it extremely tough for any other team to knock Hartley off of first place. Watterson played the Hawks tough in the first matchup, where a major run in the fourth quarter helped Hartley escape with a win. If Watterson can escape the east side with a victory, it’ll make things really interesting in the CCL and give the the three-team trio of Hartley, Watterson and DeSales all a shot at the league title.
#6 (D4/D5) Jonathan Alder (14-3) at London (10-4)
Bitter rivals do battle in a first place game in the Central Buckeye Conference. Jonathan Alder will take a 16 mile drive down Route 42 for a game that will likely decide the champion in the CBC. In the last matchup, the road team won with London triumphing with a 59-45 victory. Alder has won every game minus win since that matchup, highlighted by their current seven-game win streak. London has won five of their last six, however, their overtime loss to Kenton Ridge on Jan. 3 has created the tie atop the CBC. To the winner goes the spoils, and this game might just end up being the best in Central Ohio on Friday, as you don’t often get a matchup of Madison County teams with so much at stake.
