It’s Friday in Columbus. Tonight we have a handful of intriguing games. With the OCC having crossover matchups, minus the league matchups in the Capital division, and the City League wrapping up its opening week of league play, there’s a lot to watch. Here are the top games for Friday.
#3 Delaware Hayes at #2 Westerville North
In a rare top three matchup, Delaware Hayes takes its show on the road to Westerville North. Both teams enter at 4-0 and are looking to win an outright OCC title, which makes this a very important matchup.
Westerville North has faced the tougher schedule thus far, playing teams like Gahanna Lincoln, Westerville Central and Linden-McKinley - handing all of those teams their only losses.
Delaware Hayes comes in without junior big man Landon Vanderwarker, which will make this an even tougher matchup than it already is. The Pacers fared nicely on Tuesday in a road matchup against Marysville, as the entire roster stepped up and did a fine job. Westerville North is a different challenge than Marysville however, as the Warriors have the best backcourt that Delaware Hayes will see all season long.
Westerville North will be challenged in back to back games, as they’ll face rival Westerville South on Tuesday in a quick turnaround. If the Warriors want to win another OCC title, they’ll need to continue to bring their A game in these primetime matchups. Through the early going of the season, Westerville North looks like a team capable of taking the next step and becoming a serious threat in Central Ohio.
