SUNBURY, OH — When it comes to a high school player’s ability to translate their game to the Division I level, there are two main attributes that always stand out.
Size and an ability to stretch the floor.
Big Walnut rising senior Carson Scholl, a 6’8 forward, possesses the gift of height and has developed into a deadly shooter from deep.
For those reasons, Scholl caught the eyes of numerous Division I programs, but it was ultimately the Miami RedHawks who captured Scholl’s interest as he made his commitment public on Sunday. He is the first area player in the 2027 class to make his collegiate decision.
Scholl’s pledge follows a successful junior campaign with the Eagles, in which he averaged over 18 points and seven rebounds per game, shot over 44% from beyond the arc and was named Second Team All-Ohio in Division II.
For the AAU season, Scholl has been a top scorer for the Ohio Buckets on the EYBL circuit.
Scholl chose the RedHawks over offers from Southern Indiana and Purdue Fort Wayne and received strong interest to make a visit from Cleveland State, Furman, Air Force, and Kent State.
