Division II District Finals Preview
For the first time in history, we have FIVE Division II district finals on tap over the course of three days
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Things felt normal again for Central Ohio basketball upon entrance of the Taft Coliseum at the Ohio Expo Center. The immediate smell of pizza and popcorn and the multi-colored seats brought fans of Central Ohio basketball back to the golden days of the 1990’s, 2000’s and mid 2010’s. With the last boys basketball game taking place in 2015 when Westerville South edged out Northland and advanced to the Division I state semifinals, it had been quite some time since basketball was played at ‘The Barn’. Division III kicked things off on Tuesday with Bishop Hartley blowing past Walnut Ridge in the opener and DeSales taking care of rival Bishop Watterson in the nightcap to bring home district titles for the Central Catholic League.
Five jam-packed games are on tap on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The four district champions of Thursday and Friday’s games will remain in Columbus for a Central District-only regional tournament, while the winner of Sunday’s final will head to Wooster to take on teams from Northeast Ohio.
Let’s take a look at all five Division II district finals.
