Division I Top 25 - Week 3
We have a new No. 1 in Division I and two new teams in the top 25 for Week 3
Now two full weeks into the high school basketball season, we are starting to see which teams are capable of being contenders for all the marbles. Here’s our top 25 for Week 3.
1. Reynoldsburg (4-0)
Last Week: #2
Last Week Games: W at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, W vs. #24 Groveport Madison, W vs. Toledo Bowsher
This Week Games: Friday at #21 Dublin Coffman, Sunday vs. Cleveland St. Ignatius (Capital)
Bottom line: The Raiders have been extremely impressive in a very difficult stretch of games to begin the season. They won’t play at home again until 2024 as another tough stretch of four games begins this week at Dublin Coffman and at a neutral site against Cleveland St. Ignatius. Reynoldsburg would be deserving of a state No. 1 ranking if they’re 8-0 by the New Year.
2. Westerville North (4-0)
Last Week: #3
Last Week Games: W at #10 Gahanna Lincoln, W at Franklin Heights, W vs. #6 Westerville Central
This Week Games: Friday vs. #3 Delaware Hayes
Bottom line: Westerville North picked up two top 10 wins last week as the Warriors have been one of the most impressive teams in the state through four games. They have a chance to really make noise on Friday at home against Delaware Hayes. Through two weeks, nobody has shown a tougher backcourt than what the Warriors have.
3. Delaware Hayes (3-0)
Last Week: #1
Last Week Games: W vs. Big Walnut
This Week Games: Tuesday at #15 Marysville, Friday at #2 Westerville North
Bottom line: Delaware Hayes needed overtime to knock off Big Walnut on Friday at home. The Pacers will hit the road for two challenging ranked matchups. The game against Westerville North will go a long way in determining a champion in the OCC-Capital. However, do not sleep on Marysville. The Monarchs beat Hayes on their home floor in this game last season.
