Division I
Noteworthy items:
Reynoldsburg further distanced themselves by remaining unbeaten and taking down Newark, Pickerington Central and Centerville in order last week. The Raiders are rounding into shape and look unstoppable at this point in the season. They’ll have another opportunity to defeat a state championship pedigree team when they face Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary on Saturday at Ohio Dominican.
Olentangy Orange won a top three game against Olentangy Liberty on the road on Friday but ran out of gas on Saturday against CIA Bella Vista out of Arizona on Saturday at Flyin’ to the Hoop. The Pioneers will also be in action at Ohio Dominican when they take on the top team in Division III, Bishop Hartley.
Delaware Hayes looked like the team that won the region last year once again when they defeated a highly talented Western Reserve Academy on Sunday at Flyin’ to the Hoop. The Pacers can knot a tie in the OCC if they can win on the road against the top team in Division II, Westerville North.
Newark lost by 12 to Reynoldsburg in a game that was much closer than the score would suggest on Tuesday. The Wildcats, despite being a top scorer, defeated Beavercreek at the buzzer on Sunday. They have a difficult home game against rising OCC contender Groveport Madison on Tuesday.
Hilliard Darby just keeps winning. The Panthers have won five-straight and are 10-1. The Panthers have a chance to tie the 19 wins they had in the 2007-08 season as they hold a first place lead in the OCC-Cardinal.
Pickerington North had a great week of hoops, defeating Dublin Coffman and Gahanna Lincoln at home. The Panthers can add to the momentum on Monday against Beavercreek at Flyin’ to the Hoop.
Groveport Madison, Dublin Coffman and Upper Arlington round out the top ten. Groveport and Coffman each have a chance to pick up top five road wins this week with the Cruisers heading to Newark on Tuesday and the Rocks heading to Olentangy Liberty on Friday. Upper Arlington has three games away from home on the schedule, playing at Central Crossing and Hilliard Bradley during the week and taking on Grove City on Saturday at Ohio Dominican.
