DAYTON, OH — Headed into Sunday’s Division I state title game at UD Arena, regardless of whatever the outcome would be, Hilliard Bradley already made history.
For the first time in the program’s existence, the Jaguars appeared in the final game of the season with the difficult task of a 24-3 Cincinnati Princeton that stood in the way of a potential first-ever title.
Unfortunately for the Jags, the Vikings stood plenty tall and controlled pace and momentum from opening tip towards a dominant 59-28 victory in front of 4,635 fans.
An 8-0 Vikings start turned into a 23-7 halftime lead and while the Jags were able to more than double their first half score in the third period, Princeton continued to expand their advantage and outscored Bradley by 15 points for the final two periods.
“Obviously, it’s disappointing, we never found any rhythm, no momentum from the start,” Hilliard Bradley head coach Brett Norris said after the game. “Gotta give them credit, defensively, in which the place they play, it overwhelmed us today.”
