SUNBURY, OH- Life is full of uncontrollable variables, it’s all about how you respond.
This is the sentiment Mr. Basketball candidate Jason Singleton had after he led the Columbus Academy Vikings to their second straight Division V Regional Championship on Sunday afternoon.
This highly anticipated matchup between the Vikes and Margaretta was initially scheduled to be Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, March 14th, but had to be rescheduled due to a power outage that spread over central Ohio because of ferocious winds on Friday.
On top of this unexpected occurrence, Academy was without six of their players, including starting senior forward Gabriel Davis-Ray, who made several key plays in their recent overtime win over Africentric on Wednesday.
As if things couldn’t get any more difficult, Academy found themselves down twelve points going into the final frame of this match, and were playing in front of a roaring Margaretta crowd that seemed to control the momentum throughout the game.
