COLUMBUS, Ohio - - It’s been too long, that is the sentiment amongst players and coaches, as the Columbus City League has not played games since Saturday, January 24th. That all changes tonight as play resumes in a busy week, where teams will play three games; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. It will be interesting to see if and how the schedule will effect play, with other teams in Central Ohio already back in the swing of things.

Before teams get ready to hit the floor tonight, get a refresher on the landscape of the Columbus City League heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

City League North: Centennial (14-3; 10-0) sits as the only unbeaten in the north division and are rolling to one what could be their best season ever. Led by Divison 3 Player Of the Year candidate, junior wing Keon Bonner who is putting up over 18 points per game, the Stars have a strong roster and are potential district finalist. They are poised to make the City League championship game for the first time after sweeping Northland (10-6; 8-2) this season.

Speaking of Northland, the Vikings still have the talent to compete come tournament time, leaning on senior in point guard Diante James and junior wing Owan Mburugu to shoulder the load on offense. Head coach Tihon Johnson has always tested his team with a relatively good out of conference schedule, with the hope of being battle tested once the post season begins.

Four teams are sandwiched in the middle of the division, Mifflin (7-8; 5-5), East (6-7; 5-5), Linden (7-10; 5-5); Beechcroft (6-10; 5-5) are all .500 in the north.

Junior guard Myles Jarrett is the guy for the Punchers, being the consistent force Mifflin can lean on, averaging just under 15 points per game. East senior combo guard Daeshawn Fiore has only scored single-digits once, in the season opener and is now receiving some college interest from local schools. Fiore can flat out score the ball is a worth taking a trip to historic East High School to check out for yourself.
