Breaking News: Tyler Kropp Commits to Northwestern
The area's top forward from Olentangy Liberty shares more on his decision
POWELL, OH - The best available Central Ohio prospect in the 2025 class has made his collegiate decision.
The 6’9 power forward from Olentangy Liberty blossomed into one of Ohio’s top recruits and collected 20 offers throughout his high school career. It was his last offer, from Northwestern and head coach Chris Collins, that he received last week after a visit that sealed the deal.
“The feeling that I got from the coaching staff and the team felt like home to me. I think the fit for me is perfect,” Kropp told 270 Hoops. “I loved Coach Collins’ plan for me and what he sees in me. It felt like the right place for me where I can go become the best basketball player and person that I could be.”
In Kropp’s junior season, he averaged a double-double (22.3 points per game, 11 rebounds) and earned second team All-District and special mention All-Ohio. Over the summer, Kropp played with the Argentina U17 National Team at the World Cup and averaged 20 points and over seven rebounds per game.
Kropp chose the Wildcats over schools including Davidson, Dayton, Richmond and Harvard. He becomes the first Central Ohio recruit to commit to a Big 10 school since Devin Royal, a Pickerington Central graduate that is entering his sophomore season at Ohio State.
“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to go compete with the best players and the best teams in the country,” Kropp said. “I’m ready to get to work and show who I am on the biggest stage.”
Stay tuned for a feature interview with Kropp that will dive further into his decision and preview what he hopes to accomplish his senior season at Olentangy Liberty.
