Battle For The City Top Performers (2028)

GROVE CITY, OH - The 9th annual 270 Hoops Battle For The City took place last week at Central Crossing High School, our yearly postseason invite-only showcase that features some of the top players in the region.

The 2028 class got us started on Wednesday night. In previous years, we put players from the Ohio Capital Conference against a combination of smaller conferences such as the Columbus City League, Central Catholic League, Mid-State League and more.

This year was an East vs. West format, with Interstate 71 as the dividing line. The new approach gave us more competitive games, which made it fun for players and fans in attendance.

Below were the rosters for the 2028 class:

East

Chavis Wilson - Reynoldsburg

Evan Allgood - Genoa Christian

Evan Draher - DeSales

Hudson Edwards - Logan

James Smith - Pickerington Central

Micah Williams - Gahanna

Quinez Walker - Northland

Raymond King Jr. - Africentric

Vandell Slade - Northland

West

Austin Jones - Westland

Griffin Harper - Philo

Josh Freeze - Madison Plains

Luke Johnson - London

Rashid Sherif - Central Crossing

Robert Page - Olentangy

Samajey Andrews - Westland

A tight game for four quarters, the East team eventually pulled away with a 100-91 victory.

While I could highlight each and every player, as just about every participant delivered noteworthy moments, cuts had to be made to select the top performers.

Check out below who ultimately stood out the most and should certainly be players to watch grow and develop into some of the area’s best ballers the next few years.
