Back-to-Back: Olentangy Orange repeats as District Champs
Pioneers had complete control in 20-point win over Reynoldsburg
COLUMBUS, OH - Considered the most anticipated game of the day, Olentangy Orange quickly tempered those expectations with a thorough 60-40 win over Reynoldsburg to win their second straight District championship.
Beyond the first few minutes that opened with a 5-4 Reynoldsburg advantage, Olentangy Orange took the lead on Dylan Joy’s second three-pointer and never looked back. The Pioneers grew a six-point lead at the end of the first quarter into a 22-0 run throughout the second.
Orange’s overall dominance on both ends of the floor kept their lead in the 20+ area for the majority of the second half. The Pioneers balanced scoring, which saw three players score ten or more, and sticky hands that generated 11 steals made it feel as if the Raiders rarely had the chance for a comeback.
“Our offense was so tied to our defense this game,” Orange head coach Anthony Calo said after the game. “We needed them to play in the half court, we wanted to value the ball and get great shots and force them to the half court. Our defense was incredible.”
